Pat McGrath Tributes

In my work I’ve been inspired by three makeup artists, Kabuki, Mathu Andersen and Pat Mcgrath. I spent the majority of my work online paying homage to these artists with tutorial tributes and creative inspirations, so I decided to work on recreations as new images of some of my favourite work to pay tribute to each one.

Pat McGrath created this clubkid look for Vogue in 2021, I wanted to create that to celebrate her Damehood. I really enjoyed doing a look where I used eyebrow glue, because often I keep things very hypernatural and I don’t love covering brows, but this worked and it was a mask effect which I love. Mathu has always been a major inspiration so I have included this video look he created because there’s so many iconic images to choose from, but I absolutely loved this one. Finally Kabuki and the Black Lips Troupe have been a massive inspiration to me and contributed to my early inspirations, I didn’t even know which one to choose as all of their various incarnations were majorly inspiring.
