NYX x RETRIEVE

I created a brand new masterclass collaboration between NYX x PRIDE on the Retrieve app!

COLOUR

I created four colour series inspired by the rainbow within the Pride flag, I thought as we were launching during this season it would be a great theme, and consistent with my work. My goal was to create something that anyone could recreate, but still be statement. I didn’t want anything to look like a drag queen, or like an older more perfected look, I wanted it to capture the vibe of an 80s night club with a fun, worn feel.

The looks all combine elements of taking things away, aka editing, which is something I do frequently in my cosmetics work. I start off with a crazy amount of colour, then I pair back or recreate the ideas. I loved the purple look because it was so masculine without it being obviously a male face, and I loved the mask look as it contrasted well with my previous work. Please enjoy them.

GENDER

These two tutorials were my classic gender videos, I myself start off in a grey area and push the boundaries of each look to create a masculine look, and a feminine look.

The feminine look was a fantastic chance for me to create my signature look in proper lighting and is definitely my classic go to JH makeup. The masculine look showed how I build up facial hair with a wire sponge, how I enhance the brows, use more of a natural skin and keep everything looking pretty natural. Both looks are inspired by filters and over perfecting the features, so you can take elements of each and apply them to your own makeup choices.

I was so excited to be announced the creator of the week on the Retrieve platform as I absolutely loved working with them. What a mile stone and on to the masterclass part 2!
